An important consideration in implementing agile methodologies is an organization's willingness to adopt new approaches

How to Improve Productivity with Agile Methodologies (CIO.com Article Recap)

Many in the industry are searching for new ways to increase productivity and efficiency with Agile approaches to software development. That's the theme of a new article on CIO.com by Bruce Harpham, who details the many benefits of Agile methodologies in software development and examines key considerations for implementing the practice. Our very own Scott Rose spoke with Bruce on the topic and discussed the ways organizations can employ Agile practices among a global team, where face-to-face is not feasible.

While Bruce notes that face-to-face interaction is a key element to increased productivity within agile, it's not always possible with the way global teams are set up. Therefore, it's important to develop schedules for a global team in order to appease those working in different time zones and keep the culture positive. As Scott says, "Success with agile methodology is 5 percent due to the tools used and 95 percent due to the culture."

Another important consideration in implementing agile methodologies is an organization's willingness to adopt new approaches. This includes taking customer feedback into consideration, as those suggestions help enterprises to deliver the results expected of them. Collecting and managing this feedback in a methodical manner is key to this tactic. Scott states, "By delivering new features and enhancements in sprints, we can keep momentum and be responsive to customers."
